by PNN’sLucky7Star© May 28th 2007

Is a sacred day in most any year but this year particularly demands a special pause… Men, our sons, fathers and mothers are once again dying in numbers that should strike a cord in the hardest of hearts… In a hostile and increasly unpopular war, doing what they were ordered to do. Fight for our freedom, they deserve better. Not just from the country that sent them into harms way but from the leadership that has somehow managed to stall and drive this nation into an ever weeping field amuck.

First of all let me be clear, I for one never bought into any of this prade of lies that carried us into this field far astray from our founding fathers… But now that we are there and about to lose whatever is left of our self respect as a nation I feel it is incumbent to do all we can, as Americans, to avoid a widening Catastrophe that the present administration seems to have little problem in finding at every turn… Or so it seems it finds them. Never the mind that we could (The United States of America that is) fight this war for another 50 years if, that is “IF” we found the proper political will and motivation. It is clear, at least in my mind, that the present leadership is fairly oblivious to this fact but content to trudge on aimlessly into the ever darking field of their own void stupor.

Now, to just about everyone else in the free world its clear a change in direction should be followed by a change in Policy… It IS NOT winning a War but securing a Peace that is imperative. The change (the troop surge) cannot find a suitable outcome unless some one is at the helm that the people and more importantly the “people” in Congress feel we can trust… And its not “Condi” Rice at the World Bank

My short list in the best of all possible worlds is General Colin Powell, James Baker, or Sam Nunn. I’m sure it’s a bit much to ask of anyone but I think General Colin Powell deserves an apology from this administration and an opportunity to set the historical record right once and for the entire world to see. Would he take on such a awesome responsibility… Anyone else with an ounce of common sense would, in all probability pass, but General Powell has uncommon sense and the duty of a solider. The President should be man enough to admit that mistakes were made and offer the General the opportunity to set things right… He deserves it, the country deserves its, and lord know our soilders in the field need to know that they have “THEIR” man making the calls instead of a yes, man or woman. The World Bank needs a new direction and securing a peaceful future for all nations should be at the very top of everyone angenda. How about the real fight to save our planet from global climate Catastrophe… God bless America!

I’m sure there are none more compelled to find a solution to the present delimma than Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sen John McCain and Sen. John W. Warner. Perhaps these men might set the President’s ear on fire. Lord knows we do not need another Vietnam.

After reading some of the recent columns by Cal Thomas (Graham’s Treason) , Rich Lowery (McCain’s hypocritical) or even Maureen Dowd (Dubya (or W.), wake up and get your head out of your assets) so to speak… Is showing utter contempt for the office. I think “Mr.President” is just as effective without sounding like we’re at war with each other. With all this nonsense and name calling its a wonder how this country has lasted as long as it has. First of all, we should drop to our knees and give thanks that NONE of these guys (and gals) are actually running the country… Thank God! I think maybe Mr. Thomas is perhaps the finest soldier in the jihadist army except for maybe Richard Lowery… They still don’t get it.

Look today is this 22nd of September the first day of fall, we retired the F-14 TomCat after 34 years of service, our first line pure fighter, still even now, few aircraft on the planet rival its avionics engaged in air to air combat… but the secret weapon remains the “TopGun” pilot in the cockpit. Just about every General, special ops soldier, and fighting man worth his salt knows that its not the helmet upon the head, the tank or aircraft in which he fights or the boots upon his feet that matter… But rather that which is placed inside the American soldier’s heart that has created the world’s most feared warrior.

Part and parcel Of this arsenal of freedom is the Constitution of the United States of America, its armor truth, justice, and the absolute and certain knowledge our fight is in the just and righteous cause of freedom. That is, if we’re going to win this war, this is how it will be done, as we have always done, and that’s by being more American, not less… By drawing a clear and distinct line of demarcation between what and who we are… I think maybe I was in love once with a beautiful creature in which we had little, if anything in common… except for maybe a passion for life and ideas. I mean you can tell the difference in a kiss when its just planted on the lips… Or the rapture in such a way you feel it to your toes so as to cause everything else in the world to just fade into obilvion. It’s the sincerity that once it touches never leaves the heart of its victim. It convicts to the tears to ones eyes and renders courage to the etenal heart… It makes for a fearless soul. Awesome is the soldier that fights with love… In the eyes of God, truth and courage always win, one gives rise to the other and together become the most powerful force in the universe. Thank God we still have such honorable men (Senators Lindsey Graham, John McCain , and John W. Warner) of sincere conviction and steadfast constitution. God bless America.

Lindsey Graham (Senator Republican South Carolina) said this will determine how America is perceived around the world in 2006… Indeed how we define these issues of the Geneva Conventions (and associate constitutional concerns) is even more important then how we are perceived just not by friend and foe alike but, from the historical perspective in 3006, how we perceived and defined our national character as the leader of the free world. Generations may look upon the events taking form upon the Senate floor as the pivotal moment for shaping the future of what this country, indeed in large part what the free world will become in the next thousand years.

The line has been drawn, not in the sands of some god forsaken desert, but upon the floor of the United States Senate and across the desk of Executive office desk of President George Walker Bush. In the Senate you have Senators John McCain of Arizona, John W. Warner of Virginia and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. The three were joined on Thursday by Colin L. Powell, formerly the secretary of state and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in challenging the administration’s approach. At stake are the core principals of this nation in its battle over terrorism… but even deeper and more important are our Constitution and its cherished moral principals as they stand not just for Americans but for the world… Who we are, and what we stand for. How we are different from the would be tyrants that oppose and loath freedom and will ultimately determine if Government of the people, by the people and for the people shall survive or perish from the face of the earth.

Almost two years have passed since The Nation published The Moral Case Against the Iraq War Indeed this has become more than just a war for democracy in Iraq but a test for the core and soul of this nation’s Constitution. I wrote a piece that did not get much copy on an important discussion of the Supreme Courts decision as to the legal question branding the NSA wiretapping as unconstitutional. In the discussion I just called it as I plainly see it Spaghetti Cowboy logic because the reasoning behind the wire taps seems all nice and sound on the surface but contains the seeds of destruction to be twisted in such as fashion so as to destroy not only the Constitution but indeed peril the very future of freedom and basic human rights as to make them nonexistence. This Sunday churches across America are encouraged to ring their bells on September 17th at 4:00 pm, the date and time of the original signing of the Constitution of the United State of American… To which I can only add, for those who believe in God and the power of prayer… Now maybe a good time to pray for America and thank God for the freedoms for which she stands.
