Reading a piece on the op-ed of the WSJ and I found myself in wonder how those of the democratic left wing lynch mob could get things soooo wrong. Check it out for yourself.
Liberal McCarthyism Bigotry and hate aren’t just for right-wingers anymore by Wall Street Journal‘s BY LANNY J. DAVIS Tuesday, August 8, 2006 12:01 a.m. EDT — WASHINGTON–My brief and unhappy experience with the hate and vitriol of bloggers on the liberal side of the aisle comes from the last several months I spent campaigning for a longtime friend, Joe Lieberman. This kind of scary hatred, my dad used to tell me, comes only from the right wing–in his day from people such as the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy, with his tirades against “communists and their fellow travelers.” The word “McCarthyism” became a red flag for liberals, signifying the far right’s fascistic tactics of labeling anyone a “communist” or “socialist” who favored an active federal government to help the middle class and the poor, and to level the playing field.
It seems very odd how someone can be demonized and how bigotry finds a welcome home in the land of the Connecticut Yankee (for a change). Having lived most of my life in the Carolinas, arguably the most conservative of Southern States, its with certain conviction to find that fascism is still alive and well and apparently found a new home in the northeast most leftward wing of the democratic party. Not that I’ve ever personally subscribed to that little piece of small mind paradise, just that its with some bemusement to see what I’ve always known in that bigtory is an equal opportunity hater. Still to attack someone for making a stand, and in this case, if feel the correct stand is a mistake of our growingly too politically correct new world order.
I was reading an op-ed piece by Thomas Friedman, who siezes on the right side of things more often than not but hits the nail square on the wrong head with his blind eyed assertion the “The Bush Administration “owes” us a plan B for the mess in Iraq” and continues with ““We are not midwifing a democracy in Iraq we’re baby-sitting a civil war.
Actually neither Mr. Friedman nor do legion of the liberal antiwar haters just doesn’t quite get it. We were NEVER there to be the mid-wife for a democracy and those who thought we ever were need to look under their pillow and see if the tooth fairy has left them any change from their broken tooth. We find ourselves in a situation very similar to that of the role of 18 and 19th century England but instead of enforcing the laws of seas, we are stewards of civilization itself. There is no other power in the world that can or will lead, the United Nations is, if not completely impotent, certainly only united in their determination NOT to make a stand. And then to accuse, by proxy, Sen. Joe Lieberman for the policies of Israel as it seeks to defend its boarders against deadly missiles of state sponsored terrorism, is if not the heights of hypocrisy, then ignorance run amuck.
I think that Sen. Joe Lieberman has done something even more remarkable in this day in time… He has taken a stand despite the polls of popularity of the pompous self centric party pontiffs and he has shown enormous courage in the face of great adversity… And took a stand to do the right thing. If the people and voters of Connecticut fail to reward such audacity and moral fiber of Joe Lieberman heaven will not soon forget… He deserves better treatment and respect, if he were here in South Carolina I dare say, instead of trying to hang a noose around his neck we would give him a medal.
